Battlefield 6 Gamers Concur: Missions Are Excessively Difficult
The debut of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 was met with significant enthusiasm, especially for its flagship multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, simultaneous player numbers surged to nearly 750,000. Yet, regardless of its fanfare, many players are protesting against several of the title's hardest challenges, which are mandatory to access certain guns.
Players have started resorting to custom matches created through Battlefield Portal to achieve these objectives, emphasizing just how grueling these missions have become.
Comprehending BF6 Objectives
Assignments are Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, as opposed to the periodically changed everyday and weekly missions. There are four classes of assignments, but while the majority merely grant skins and a few gadgets, finishing the gun missions is the exclusive means of getting 12 of the 41 primary weapons available in the game.
Several of these restricted firearms may soon earn a place on lists of the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Community Frustration across Reddit
On Reddit, players are reasonably expressing their worries about how difficult and grindy some of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most extreme examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
- Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs
"This task is so atrocious and entirely ill-conceived, I want to tear my hair out," is a comment that illustrates just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many positive effects in fights as it did in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
At the same time, hipfiring an LMG is highly imprecise and functions solely at very short distances, which is not usually a position you aim to be. That player also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that task would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Overly Demanding Task
A different forum member highlighted an additional excessively hard challenge, within the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:
- Secure 150 precision takedowns from more than 200 meters away with sniper rifles
This is difficult enough by itself, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.
There is a decent selection of map sizes, but since there are only nine battlegrounds in the game right now, it restricts you to playing a specific urban map, another expansive area, and maybe a classic map if you're lucky if you plan to engage from afar from over 200m away.
The Workaround
There is a workaround though: the portal. The custom game creator is a tool that allows you to make custom game modes on whatever map you choose, including AI opponents. This allows you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't really seem like the developer's vision.
However, when doing the challenges in a proper game appears to work against fun, since you have to play in such an unorthodox manner that harms both you and your squad, who can blame someone for grinding them out in a private match so allies are not impaired?
Potential Changes
It won't come as a surprise if a number of these missions are made easier in the coming days or weeks, because should they remain unchanged, some players simply won't get their hands on the gated weapons.
At the moment, the player base continues to voice their opinions on these demanding battlefield assignments, expecting a less arduous overall gameplay in future updates.
