Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident near Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
βThe boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,β the commissioner stated.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.β
